Senior Software Engineer - Holoscan Sensor AI Platform (Finance)

At NVIDIA, we are building the future of real-time AI for sensor driven applications. Holoscan Platform is our flagship open-source solution for sensor AI - enabling developers to build, optimize, and deploy GPU-accelerated solutions that process multimodal sensor data in real time. Originally pioneered for healthcare imaging, Holoscan has rapidly expanded into a domain-agnostic platform powering diverse industries: from humanoid robotics and industrial automation, to astronomy, earth observation, and beyond. Wherever high-throughput sensor processing and AI inference are crucial, Holoscan provides the foundation.

The field of streaming AI and accelerated sensor processing is reshaping how humans interact with machines and how machines perceive the world. By combining advanced GPU computing with flexible software frameworks, Holoscan makes it possible to transform raw, high-bandwidth sensor streams into actionable intelligence - with applications spanning surgery, robotics, manufacturing, and scientific discovery. As part of the Holoscan SDK team, you'll be at the forefront of this transformation - designing APIs, building accelerated software pipelines, and collaborating with research and industry partners to deliver the foundation for tomorrow's real-time AI platforms.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Architect the future of Holoscan SDK by designing intuitive, scalable APIs for real-time sensor, image, and multimodal data processing - balancing developer usability with peak GPU performance.
  • Prototype innovative GPU-accelerated algorithms for computer vision, imaging, and sensor fusion - translating research into production-grade software.
  • Build and optimize core libraries for accelerated I/O, streaming, encoding/decoding, and large-scale data handling across diverse domains like healthcare, robotics, industrial automation, and astronomy.
  • Benchmark performance rigorously, profiling and optimizing against powerful frameworks and research results.
  • Collaborate with world-class teams inside and outside NVIDIA - from robotics researchers to medical device makers - ensuring Holoscan seamlessly integrates into varied platforms.
  • Influence product strategy by contributing technical insights that shape roadmap decisions, set performance goals, and define standards for real-time AI systems.
  • Mentor and elevate the team, guiding peers and junior engineers in API design, GPU programming, and large-scale system development.

What We Need to See:

  • Advanced degree (Master's/PhD) or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Applied Math, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Deep passion for computer vision, real-time AI, and sensor driven systems, with an ability for translating research into practical, high-performance solutions.
  • Proven success in designing APIs and frameworks that developers love to use and that stand the test of scale.
  • Strong programming expertise in C++ (modern standards), combined with solid Python development skills for prototyping and tooling.
  • 8+ years of experience building and shipping complex, high-performance imaging or sensor-processing software.
  • Ability to profile, analyze, and optimize performance bottlenecks at both software and hardware levels.
  • Strong communicator and collaborative problem-solver, able to work across multiple technical domains and partner with both researchers and product teams.
  • A perspective of technical leadership: proactive in seeing opportunities, setting high standards, and mentoring teammates.
  • Hands-on expertise with CUDA C/C++ and deep knowledge of parallel programming paradigms.

Ways to Stand Out from the crowd:

  • Knowledge of GPU architecture internals and proven skill in squeezing performance out of hardware.
  • Background in low-latency streaming pipelines for multimodal sensor fusion (video, audio, depth, medical, or robotics sensors).
  • Experience with modern graphics APIs like OpenGL, Vulkan, or DirectX, and their integration into real-time systems.
  • Track record of open-source contributions in imaging, vision, or HPC frameworks.
  • Curiosity and drive to apply Holoscan across new frontiers - from robotic autonomy to space exploration.
