Pay Rate: $70,000 - 80,000 per year based on experience

Work Schedule: Hybrid work schedule potential available after the training period. Must be able to commute to the Cincinnati/Blue Ash, Ohio office.

Position Summary:
As a key member of the Accounting & Analytics team, the Cost Accountant II will play a vital role in analyzing and managing product costs to support accurate financial reporting, competitive pricing, and operational efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced team, gain hands-on exposure to complex cost structures in a manufacturing environment, and contribute to critical business decisions.

The ideal candidate brings strong Cost Accounting expertise, particularly within manufacturing, and is eager to grow their knowledge and take on increasing levels of responsibility. Over time, this role provides a pathway for leadership development within the organization, with the potential to assume greater ownership of Cost Accounting functions as the team evolves.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and report on product costs to support pricing strategies and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead, including annual reporting.
  • Prepare and present variance analyses (production & purchase price) to support business decisions.
  • Partner with Product Development and Pricing teams to provide accurate cost estimates for new bids and contracts.
  • Identify and investigate cost discrepancies, driving improvements in cost controls.
  • Support compliance with US Census and other government contract production reporting requirements.
  • Assist in periodic physical inventory counts, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
  • Participate in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to support business goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proven experience in Cost Accounting within a manufacturing environment, including standard costing, variance analysis, and Bill of Materials (BOM) management.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and cost control methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred; Atlas and SQL experience is a plus).
  • An analytical mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving cost discrepancies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative, experienced team.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required).
  • 1-3+ years of Cost Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (required).
  • Experience in textiles, apparel, or consumer goods manufacturing (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant accounting software.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 preferred).
  • Atlas and SQL experience are considered a plus.
