Sr Reporter, Evenings, WFTX (Finance)



Are you a seasoned journalist ready to make an impact in Southwest Florida? WFTX, The E.W. Scripps' Fox affiliate in Fort Myers is seeking an experienced Reporter to deliver compelling stories across multiple platforms while mentoring the next generation of journalists. As a key member of our news team, you'll bring important stories to life for our viewers and help shape the future of our newsroom.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Generate innovative story ideas for broadcast and digital platforms

  • Report live on location from various news events

  • Research and prepare factual stories that effectively inform the public

  • Develop stories through personal contacts, internet research and other sources

  • Collaborate with News, Promotion, Production and Engineering teams on daily broadcasts and special projects

  • Participate in community events to strengthen station presence

  • Build and maintain a network of sources to provide exclusive stories

  • Meet all production deadlines consistently

  • Drive to cover various assignments as needed

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred

  • Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred

  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

  • Engaging on-air personality

  • Ability to multitask multiple stories simultaneously

  • Advanced critical thinking skills

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
