Advisor|Payroll Supervisor (Finance)
Verisk is hiring for an experience Payroll professional to join our Corporate Payroll team in our Jersey City, NJ global headquarters, where we have a flexible hybrid work model.
- Review & reconcile semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll cycles ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
- Reconcile payroll commissions, bonus, severance and vacation payments and all payroll cycle changes for accuracy.
- Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
- Generate "off cycle" payments for terminations pertinent to State regulations.
- Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
- Prepare final Payroll summary reports for electronic distribution.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests and maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
- Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan
- Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned

- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in the Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience payroll processing in a multi-state.
- Significant knowledge of payroll functions, processing, and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
- Experience collaborating and managing cross functional strategic initiatives, fostering collaboration across finance and other business functions.
- Ability to manage several direct reports, aid in coaching and mentoring team members.
- Experience with payroll systems within a cloud based HCM system (Oracle preferred).
- Proficient in garnishment withholdings, supplemental wage payments, payroll tax laws, benefit calculations, equity compensation plans, employee stock purchase plans & record retention requirements.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, ambiguous environment with a focus in continuous improvement and a willingness to adapt and take on new challenges.
- Extremely high level of integrity, honesty and trustworthiness.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping confidential information.
- Support management in problem resolutions, aid in coaching and mentoring Team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft excel is preferred.
