About the Role
Position: Custodian
Location: Manhattan, Kansas
Employment Type: Full-Time
Are you detail-driven, safety-focused, and ready for hands-on work that truly matters? You'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the cleanliness, health, and functionality of our clients' environments. As a Custodian with LB&B Associates, Inc., you'll work in a dynamic setting where your reliability and pride in your work positively impact everyone who enters the facility.
What You'll Do
Roll up your sleeves and get ready for a rewarding scope of responsibilities! Each day as a Custodian brings new challenges--and the satisfaction of overcoming them. Your key duties will include:
· Maintain cleanliness and orderliness throughout all areas of the facility, including offices, restrooms, hallways, entryways, cafeterias, and common areas.
· Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash and recycling bins, and polishing surfaces.
· Restock and replenish supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, etc.) in restrooms and break rooms to ensure comfort and convenience for all occupants.
· Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchenettes, and high-touch surfaces to uphold strict health and safety standards.
· Assist with minor repairs and maintenance duties, such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, or reporting facility issues for prompt resolution.
· Set up and break down meeting rooms and event spaces as needed, moving furniture and equipment safely.
· Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet extractors, and pressure washers with care and skill.
· Follow all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
· Monitor building security by ensuring doors and windows are locked, and report any suspicious activity or hazards.
· Support sustainability by separating recyclables, conserving resources, and using eco-friendly cleaning products where possible.
· Keep accurate records of cleaning activities, supply usage, and maintenance requests.
· Communicate effectively with supervisors, facility managers, and team members to coordinate workflow and resolve issues promptly.
· Respond to urgent cleaning or sanitation needs during the day, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.
· Participate in routine deep cleaning projects and facility-wide sanitation initiatives as scheduled.
· Dispose of waste in compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
What We're Looking For
Do you bring a well-rounded skill set and pride in your work? We're seeking candidates who demonstrate:
· High school diploma or equivalent; experience in custodial services is preferred.
· Minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar role; experience in commercial, educational, or healthcare settings a plus.
· Proficiency with a variety of cleaning equipment and supplies.
· Understanding of cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and chemical usage.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
· Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks like lifting, standing, bending, and working for extended periods.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often with minimal supervision.
· Excellent time management and organizational skills.
· Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
· Experience with green cleaning products and environmentally friendly practices.
· Ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
· Customer service orientation and a professional demeanor when interacting with clients and colleagues.
· Willingness to learn and participate in continued training and development.
Physical Demands
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
· Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, or reaching.
· Manual dexterity and mobility for detailed cleaning tasks.
· Exposure to cleaning agents, chemicals, and dust (with appropriate PPE provided).
· Occasional work at heights or in confined spaces as required by the facility.
