Summary:

As the strategic manager of our used equipment operations, the Used Equipment Sales Manager is responsible for driving profitability through smart acquisition and effective resale of pre-owned machinery. This role plays a critical part in shaping pricing strategies, optimizing trade-in values, and aligning inventory with market demand. By developing forward-thinking policies and maintaining a sharp eye on market trends, this individual ensures a competitive edge and sustained growth in the used equipment segment.

You will work with experts in our field, have support in your career path and will be part of a team that is invested in your development. This position reports to the General Manager of Sales and Rental Operations.

Salary Range: $102,800.00-$128,501 annual salary
Pay rate is dependent upon education & experience.

 Essential Functions:

Responsibilities may include:

  • Team Management: Manages multiple direct reports, including the Used Equipment Buyer/Seller, Used Equipment Inspector, Used Equipment Coordinator, Used Equipment Inside Sales. Hires, trains, and directs the work of direct reports, and provides on-going performance feedback, and conducts annual performance reviews
  • Inventory Management: Purchases used equipment and handles all consigned equipment, including processing of all required paperwork to ensure payment to the seller; reviews inventory monthly to determine need for repricing.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Develops, produces and maintain dashboards and reports and analyzes data for efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Research: Researches and identifies opportunities to purchase used equipment for resale 
  • Pricing: Determines appropriate sale price for used equipment and rental roll-outs from the rental fleet and maintains and updates a “Used List” for use by the sales team. Documents, develops and maintains pricing strategies that align with market pressure and company gross profit expectations. Establishes actual wholesale book values for trade-in machine and ensures that the internet site for marketing of used equipment is accurate and current.
  • Collaboration: Works with the Branches to ensure all “U” status equipment is prepped and ready for sale and partners with internal clients to deliver customer-centric solutions. 
  • Customer Service: Receives walk-in customers or referrals, from other sales reps and sells them used equipment and works with prospective sellers of used equipment. Works with sales reps and sales managers to help sell both new and used machines.
  • Budgeting/Forecasting: Develops and maintains an annual budget for the team and area of responsibility and develops sales staff forecasts.
  • Additional: Reviews work done in the shops on used equipment to ensure that it meets agreed upon costs and specifications, assists in evaluating our yearly Cat and Allied rollout.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

       

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
      • High school diploma or GED equivalent
      • 3+ years administrative/clerical experience
      • 3+ years customer service experience
      • 3+ years sales experience
      • 1+ years supervisory/management experience
      • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
      • Must be able and willing to travel between 25%-50%

       Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
      • Experience with CAT equipment sales

      Additional Eligibility Requirements:

      • Valid Driver's License
      • Must pass all required pre-employment screenings which may include but are not limited to background checks, drug/alcohol testing, fit for duty testing, and any other job-related tests/screenings

       Physical Demands:

      • Talking, Use of Hands, Hearing
      • Squatting/Kneeling and ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, etc.
      • Medium work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 32 pounds or more

       Travel Requirements:

      • 25- 50%
