Warehouse Manager (Finance)



Position Summary

Manage and coordinate warehouse activities (shipping, receiving, packaging, storage, and/or inventory control) are in compliance with required company and customer requirements and schedules. Translate objectives in to short-term assignments, processes and measures. Communicate what is to be accomplished and coordinate/integrate activities to achieve overall achievement of goals. Develop short-term department and individual associate goals and review progress. Ensure training is available for employees, organize work plans and maintain productive and motivational climate.

Responsibilities

Manage the mission and operational priorities of a department or functional area that may include one or more supervisors or are responsible for a unique specialty area of expertise in the organization. Translate objectives into short-term assignments, processes and measures. Communicate what is to be accomplished and coordinate/integrate activities to achieve overall achievement of goals. Develop short-term department and individual associate goals and review progress. Function as a subject matter expert and utilize expertise to incorporate, understand, and blend the functions of other operational areas to make decisions and recommendations.

  • Manage and ensure warehouse activities are in compliance with space availability, production output, order requirements and business plans. Provide guidance to warehouse supervisors regarding the coordination of department standards with overall company objectives. Provide budgetary input in regards to equipment/staffing needs, etc.
  • Review inventory reports, production schedules, sales order reports and other manufacturing reports. Manage daily work output to ensure teams meet specified timelines for both customers and manufacturing process. Resolve issues that arise and reinforce positive findings with teams and supervisors. Work with other department managers such as QA, Production, Planning etc. to resolve difficult or recurring problems.
  • Ensure supervisors and employees are trained and evaluated on safety procedures and policies. Emphasize importance of maintaining and operating equipment and keeping work areas clean from debris. Respond to and report on injuries, investigate cause and recommend means to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Assess quality of incoming materials and outgoing products to ensure specifications are met. Take corrective action on issues and engage appropriate departments to resolve issues.
  • Review various reports and evaluate process improvements for department. Implement improvements that have a positive impact on quality, cost control and customer satisfaction.
  • Confer with other department managers to coordinate warehouse activities with activities of other areas such as production, planning, purchasing, etc. Provide feedback to senior management and peers in other departments regarding problems, changes and general observations made from production operations that impact the manufacturing process.
  • Keep teams informed of customer and company expectations for productivity and quality. Issue warnings and other disciplinary measures when necessary. Provide feedback on team performance against established assignments. Encourage and emphasize team work among staff.
  • Interview, hire and provide performance leadership to employees and/or supervisors. Assess employees' accountabilities against department objectives, review performance levels and administer performance reviews. Motivate department employees, encouraging optimum productivity. Assist, advise and resolve conflict through communication of policy, expectations, personal development of each, and ongoing appraisal processes. Encourage employee communication and endorse an open door policy. Make salary determinations.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with 7-10 years of relevant work experience with 2-3 years of direct supervisory experience managing a team or functional area OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.

Able to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems. Must be able to consistently identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions. Must be able to organize/prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions. Able to communicate clearly and courteously with those who need to know of decisions/actions/problems. Able to apply excellent business acumen and collaborative skills when resolving problems.

Able to apply excellent functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows, MAC, or other technical tools in completing assignments. Able to apply expertise in all the tools or applications used to complete work assignments.

Requires excellent communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand. Able to explain programs policies and procedures in language that is understood by others.

Must be able to modify communication style both formal and informal to match the appropriate level of the audience targeted. Requires strong understanding of the impact of a message on the organization or customer. Able to write with the clarity and precision necessary for the work being performed. Apply
