GBH News Rooted Internship-Fall 2025 (Agriculture)

At GBH, we believe in the advantages of coming together to build community, mentor and learn from colleagues, and connect more deeply with our mission. As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

GBH News creates and broadcast original content on multiple platforms including Radio, TV, and Digital. GBH News team covers and produces local and national news including in-depth feature stories and interviews, covering a wide range of topics.

JOB OVERVIEW

GBH News Rooted is the fresh reincarnation of two iconic programs: first Say Brother (since 1968), then Basic Black. It continues their tradition as the longest-running public TV series centered on communities of color. Tackles news, civil rights issues, but also highlights joy—street interviews, culture, culture and lighthearted moments. This internship offers hands-on experience in digital media production and storytelling, supporting the creation of engaging video and online content for public media platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in researching, pitching, and developing story ideas for digital and video content
  • Support the production team with scripting, fact-checking, and organizing materials for segments
  • Help edit video content using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro (training provided as needed)
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute to brainstorming sessions, and provide feedback on ongoing projects
  • Manage and update digital assets, transcripts, and metadata to support content organization and publishing

SKILL SET

  • Familiarity with creating or contributing to video content for YouTube or digital platforms; interest in television production is a plus

  • Strong writing and communication skills, with attention to accuracy, research, and basic AP Style

  • Experience working on collaborative projects, especially involving video editing or storytelling

  • Organized and dependable, with the ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated interest in inclusive, thoughtful storytelling and representing diverse perspectives

JOB-STATUS

Paid Internship $17/hour (Part-time)

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

GBH internships provide students with valuable work experience and real-world knowledge across many different fields of study, from TV and radio production to web design, accounting, law, and other administrative areas.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

  • Dates: September 15th to December 5th.
  • Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wifi.
  • Candidates must be in an Undergrad or Grad program and have work authorization for the United States.
