MRI Research Seasonal Hire - Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging (Finance)



The seasonal hires will support UTHealth Houston's Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging ! The technical position of the lab assistant is to perform computer programming and image analysis of radiological medical data. This position is for a student/casual employee to process data using AI machines and deep learning methods. After an initial training period, the person will work closely with the faculty. They will assist in the programming of new code for AI applications in current data on radiological data entry and literature searches for research papers and manuscripts. They will keep written logs of their work in lab notebooks. Seasonal hired are a temporary status and therefore may not be employed for a period of more than four and 1/2 months.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Under close supervision, conduct research activities according to research protocol. Research activities may include some or all of the following: patient recruiting and screening, traditional laboratory experiments and activities, informatics, field interviewer recruiting, screening and training, and/or animal laboratories.
  • May maintain clean lab equipment and/or work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment;
  • Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data to provide needed information to principal investigators and other researchers. Updates notebooks, records, and databases as needed.
  • Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for the research departments.
  • Order laboratory and or other supplies as directed by senior research staff
  • As needed, may coordinate the work of laboratory technicians and assistants to ensure efficient, timely, and high quality results
  • Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations and codes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Certification/Skills:

    Communication: Good people skills and good communication skills required;

    Basic understanding of business intelligence software such as Tableau

    Good Verbal and written communication skills

    Experience:

    Entry level program ability to develop advanced software to use for database searches using Python and/or MATLAB.

    After initial training period, the person will work closely with faculty.

    Residency Requirement:

    Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas. Apply
