Shipping and Receiving (Manufacturing)



Summary

The Shipper is responsible for preparing, assembling, and routing dump bodies, components, and related materials for shipment. This includes loading equipment, building shipping kits, and assisting with general material handling in the shipping and receiving areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely load dump bodies onto flatbed trailers using an overhead crane and/or forklift.
  • Assemble and prepare mounting and hydraulic kits for shipment.
  • Move empty and loaded trailers in and out of the shipping bay.
  • Assist in receiving by unloading trucks, processing incoming freight, and handling UPS shipments.
  • Ensure shipping documentation is accurate and shipments are properly labeled and staged.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shipping and receiving area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report any hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty safely and effectively. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Overhead crane operation training preferred or must be completed within company-specified timeframe.

  • Computer and barcode scanning equipment
  • Shrink wrap machine and basic packaging tools

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or move materials.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasional team lifts over 50 pounds.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to loud noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
