Gas Crew Leader

The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform appliance service, including repair and installation of appliances and other related functions to support gas distribution and service operations in a safe, customer-oriented manner. Supervise team members, implement corporate policies and procedures, communicate with clients, and supervise work performance of team members

Responsibilities

  • Repair and adjust residential, commercial, and industrial appliances to ensure efficient operation.
  • Install appliances (including heating and air conditioning equipment and water heaters), meters, regulators, and control systems to comply with code specifications.
  • Locate and repair gas leaks at the customer's premises to assure safe delivery of natural gas.
  • Check and repair or replace gas meters and regulators to assure accurate registration of gas usage and continuous service to customers.
  • Complete recordkeeping associated with service and repair functions to ensure an accurate information system is maintained.
  • Operate company vehicle and maintain parts inventory and tools according to company standard and policies to ensure the delivery of safe and efficient service.
  • Attend safety classes, reinforce and comply with company safety policies
  • Work harmoniously with employees and the public and comply with policies

Qualifications

Requires high school diploma, GED and training equivalent to the satisfactory completion 2+ years specialized training or relevant experience. Must have a valid state driver's license and meet minimum driving standards.

Knowledge of:

  • Working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing codes, as applied to service and installation of appliances.
  • Working knowledge of electronics and its application to control circuits and systems.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, the installation and service of appliances, venting systems, gas burning equipment and metering and regulating systems.
  • Problem Solving - identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information skillfully, developing alternative solutions
  • Taking responsibility for own actions, keeping commitments
  • Committing to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals
  • Consistency in attendance and punctuality

Skill in:
  • Setting and achieving challenging goals

  • Using equipment and materials properly

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to in order to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.

Physical requirements

This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force on a regular basis.

The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required.

The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
