Engineer, IT Quality Systems (Finance)



Job Overview

This position is a key member of the IT organization within the Shop Floor Manufacturing Systems (MES) team, focusing on requirements gathering, system deployment, system training, and maintenance. You will work hands-on with manufacturing software systems that help ensure safe, high-quality cheese products for consumers. You will collaborate with the Quality team and other business units to determine system requirements and work together to leverage technology that delivers value to the enterprise. Responsibilities include system analysis, troubleshooting, data integration, IT system support, training, and data management. As a hands-on role, this position requires frequent technical interaction with applications, databases, and end users, ensuring seamless operation and functionality across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the IT systems support of Quality Information Systems (QIS) across the enterprise, partnering with the Quality organization and IT teams to deliver and support software solutions
  • Collaborate with Quality professionals to design, develop, and deploy standardized test methods within quality systems (e.g., Aveva, Rockwell, Advantive)
  • Facilitate the creation of standardized business processes within software solutions across multiple business functions
  • Ensure that designed processes and system data models uphold consistent and reliable data integrity across all manufacturing locations
  • Work directly with plant Quality and Manufacturing Operations personnel to resolve moderate issues
  • Develop reports and dashboards within QIS based on business needs, or create specifications for software developers when custom reports are required
  • Quickly gain and apply working knowledge of GLC manufacturing processes
  • Monitor quality systems proactively to maintain maximum system uptime
  • Lead the deployment of Quality systems to multiple GLC manufacturing locations across the U.S.
  • Integrate lab equipment and platforms, including Foss, Charm, and Mocon
  • All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures.

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study - OR at least 6 years of experience in a related field
  • 2 years of experience working in manufacturing plant-with a focus on integrating Quality Information Systems across shop floor MES platforms, LIMS, and lab equipmen
  • Familiarity with Quality Information Systems such as Advantive InfinityQS
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), including Aveva and Rockwell FactoryTalk
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server query development
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and related system tools
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards
  • Proven experience implementing manufacturing quality software systems from concept to completion
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Self-motivated, curious, and inquisitive mindset
  • Ability to work in both office and production environments
  • Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience with SAP Quality Management, preferred
  • Dairy or food industry experienceFamiliarity with Remote Desktop technologies and Rockwell ThinManager
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Practical understanding of ISA-95 standards for enterprise/control system integration
  • Knowledge of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking concepts

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office setting.

• Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35°F to 100°F; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
