POSITION SUMMARY:As a Lifeguard, you will have the opportunity to provide everyone with a safe place to swim, learn, grow and play. You will maintain a safe swimming environment in the pool, on the pool deck and the surrounding areas. You will be able to relate to people in a positive manner to build relationships with all who enter the pool.

LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION: If NOT certified, will be required to take the certification course JOB LOCATION: Walnut Creek Family YMCASHIFTS AVAILABLE: Variety of shifts are available - Mon-Fri (4:45a-1:15p, 3:45p-9:00p), Sat (5:45a-1:30p), Sun (7:45a-3:45p)PAY RATE: $11.00-$13.00/hourCLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: August 26, 2025 - Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Enforce rules and procedures
Keep pool and pool deck free of obstructions and safety hazards
Maintain constant surveillance of the water and pool deck areas
Handle equipment as assigned to ensure safety
Record chemical readings
Know emergency procedures and is able to demonstrate them
Maintain emergency equipment
Respond to all emergencies
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person
Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values
