About the Role
Position: Certified Structural Welder
Location: Manhattan, Kansas
Employment Type: Full-Time

As a Certified Structural Welder with LB&B Associates, Inc., youll partner with expert craftspeople, engineers, and project managers. What Youll Do
Every day brings the opportunity to learn, excel, and make a tangible difference. As a key team member, you will:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to understand project specifications.
Perform high-quality welding on structural steel components and piping using SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW processes in accordance with ASME Section IX and AWS D1.1 codes.
Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, tools, and safety gearalways following strict protocols.
Inspect welds visually and with non-destructive testing methods to ensure they meet code requirements and company standards.
Work with fabricators and fitters to assemble structures and components before welding.
Assist in the layout, cutting, and preparation of materials for welding, using saws, torches, and grinders as needed.
Document completed work, including weld logs and quality control records, supporting compliance and traceability.
Identify and promptly report material defects, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to supervisors.
Participate in team safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing technical training to enhance your skills and stay current on best practices.
Maintain an organized and safe work area, ensuring all tools and consumables are stored properly.
Respond quickly and effectively to project needs or unexpected challengesprioritizing safety, teamwork, and customer satisfaction at all times.
What Were Looking For
Do you take pride in your craftsmanship, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have a passion for learning and safety? Were seeking candidates who offer:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in welding or a related field preferred.
Current certification to ASME Section IX and AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code required.
3+ years of experience as a welder in construction, fabrication, or industrial settings preferred.
Thorough understanding of welding procedures, metallurgy, and safe work practices.
Ability to read blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols.
Proficient in using welding equipment, hand and power tools, and material handling equipment.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality and safety.
Ability to work in varied conditions (standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, confined spaces, heights, noise, temperature extremes).
Willingness to work variable shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays) and respond to project demands.
Excellent teamwork, communication, and a positive attitudeready to collaborate and support colleagues.
Basic computer skills for logging work and completing reports.
Dedication to continuous improvement, reliability, and professional development.
Physical Demands
Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching during each shift.
Manual dexterity for operating welding equipment, tools, and controls.
Exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, sparks, heights, and confined spacesfull PPE provided.
