Supplier Quality Engineer (Engineering)

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and improving the quality performance of our suppliers. You will work closely with our procurement, engineering, and manufacturing teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure that our suppliers meet or exceed our quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality engineering, supplier management, and a passion for driving excellence throughout the supply chain

Duties & Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement supplier quality management strategies to ensure the highest level of quality in supplied components and materials.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define quality requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria for new and existing products.
  • Monitor supplier performance through the collection and analysis of quality metrics, KPIs, and supplier scorecards.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, non-conformances, and supplier-related corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Drive supplier development and improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce defects, and optimize supplier performance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers on quality-related matters, including process improvement, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration, transparency, and mutual understanding.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in supplier quality management.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience preferred in supplier quality engineering or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, tools, and methodologies (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF16949, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP, SPC) preferred but not required
  • Security Clearance preferred.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits, assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement and delivering results.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Meets the ITAR regulations (US Citizen, Permanent Resident/Green Card, Approved Political Asylee status)
