Warehouse Conversion: Shipping Associate (Finance)



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives incoming materials and prepares materials for shipment by wrapping and packing items
  • Packs boxes using various shipping materials and ensures proper labeling and postage is included with each shipment
  • Follows shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routing, and schedules requirements to ensure timely delivery of all materials to their destination
  • Uses computer system for tracking, logging, verifying and reporting on orders
  • Determines the appropriate conveyor system by scanning packages, reading labels and charts, verifying numbers and memorizing information and sorts packages accordingly
  • Responsible for maintaining the levels of shipping materials and notifying the appropriate party when supplies are low
  • Utilizes an online exceptions management system to communicate with clients
  • Works with other fulfillment departments to see that all eligible packages are able to be sent out
  • Performs other duties as required to meet business needs

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required :
    • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum Experience required:
    • 6 months to 1 year of shipping experience
  • Skills required:
    • Ability to use basic tools and equipment such as skate wheel rollers, dock carts, and hand-held scanners
    • Ability to discern numbers and information in order to sort packages correctly
    • Demonstrated sense of accountability and problem resolution
    • Intermediate PC skills
    • Excellent attendance/punctuality
    • Ability to work overtime, as required
    • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
    • Ability to communicate effectively in both a written and oral form with a diversity of individuals in multiple functional areas
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
    • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within a fast-paced environment
    • Acute attention to detail
    • Ability to understand basic English

  • Warehouse environment
  • Occasional exposure to extreme heat and cold

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:

PYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate Carrying: Physically transporting items weighing up to 25 pounds from one location to another

Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm

Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with fingers (including thumb) and palm

Light Lifting: Raising objects up to 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another

Pulling Hand over Hand: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion (up to 1 hour per day, spread over time throughout the day)

Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or upward (up to 1 hour per day, spread over time throughout the day)

Repetitive motion: Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers for sustained periods of time

Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time

Walking: Moving about on foot, particularly for short distances

Visual Requirement: Able to see and read PC screens; detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print

ORGANIZATION

Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.

Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on short-term basis (longer than one month).

COMPREHENSION

Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.

Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information.

COMMUNICATION

Ability to understand basic English.

Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
