This position manages the day to day telecommunications activities, including planning and maintenance of voice and data, video and image telecommunications systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:    

  • Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures. Conducts performance review, and holds employees accountable for performance of their responsibilities.
  •  Evaluates, designs, plans and coordinates changes of Telecommunications/Data communications PBX switching equipment and associated hardware, software, and cabling for facilities.
  •  Ensures that the capacity and capabilities of the telecommunications network are well anticipated and makes appropriate recommendations to accomplish this objective. Performs analysis and usage studies to reconfigure or augment existing equipment/services in order to optimize communications services most economically.
  •  Troubleshoots, installs, and maintains Telecom/Datacom equipment including, but not limited to, call recording, call accounting, call processing, skills based automated call distribution (ACD), voice over internet (VoIP), interactive voice recognition (IVR), modular messaging, fax machines/servers, modems, telephones, voice/video conferencing and cellular technologies.
  •  Develops short and long range plans for future telecommunication needs for the entire district and develops implementation as well as lifecycle and disaster recovery plans.
  •  Develops space, power, copper and fiber cabling and cooling standards, policies, procedures and future capacity plans for entire district for all data centers and telecom/datacom wiring closets to insure high availability of the critical infrastructure.

Qualifications:    

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology or related experience.
  •  A minimum of seven years of experience in enterprise and call center telecommunications, data communications, and phone system design and operations including modular messaging, call accounting, call recorders and IVR's.
  •  A minimum of seven years of experience working with complex telecommunications equipment and advanced data communications equipment and systems such as, TCP/IP, T1, T3, DSL, ISDN, fiber optics, gigabit Ethernet, infrared statistical multiplexers and time division multiplexers, SNMP.
  •  A minimum of seven years of experience working with critical data center infrastructure standards and best practices including power (120/240 volt), cooling, UPS battery backup, system alarming and monitoring, humidity control, raised floors and Cat5/6 and fiber cabling.
  •  Ability to maintain and develop technical skills, staying current with new complex telecommunications and data center technologies, architectures and best practices.
  •  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  •  Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  •  Ability to use sound judgment.
  •  Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
  •  Ability to support critical systems after hours, nights and weekends as needed.

Pay Range:

$100,284.00 - $141,650.25 Annual

RTD posts a compensation range that represents a good faith estimate of what RTD anticipates paying for the position at the time of posting.  Starting salary is based on the candidate's relevant and verified education, training and work experience.  Applicants should submit all relevant and verifiable education, training and work experiences at the time of application.
