About the Role

You'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the safety, appearance, and functionality of our clients' environments. As a Painter with LB&B Associates, Inc., you'll work in a dynamic setting where your expertise directly impacts the day-to-day operations and satisfaction of our clients and their teams.
What You'll Do
Roll up your sleeves and get ready for a rewarding scope of responsibilities! Each day as a Painter brings new challenges--and the satisfaction of overcoming them. Your key duties will include:
A Commercial Facility Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing interior and exterior surfaces within a variety of commercial settings, including offices, retail establishments, warehouses, hospitals, schools, and industrial buildings. This role requires a high standard of workmanship, attention to safety, and adherence to project specifications and deadlines. The ideal candidate is skilled in various painting techniques, knowledgeable about different surface materials, and able to deliver a professional finish that enhances the facility's appearance and protects its structural integrity.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and other structures.
Apply paint, varnishes, sealants, stains, lacquers, and coatings to surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment as appropriate.
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and job specifications to ensure the correct materials, colors, and finishes are utilized according to client and facility requirements.
Mix and match paints and colors to achieve desired results, ensuring consistency and quality throughout the project.
Protect surrounding areas and non-painted surfaces with tape, drop cloths, and other barriers to prevent damage or unwanted paint application.
Remove old paint or finish using appropriate techniques such as scraping, sanding, chemical stripping, or heat gun application.
Repair and patch drywall, plaster, masonry, wood, or other surfaces as needed before painting.
Apply specialty coatings (e.g., anti-mold, fire-resistant, or epoxy coatings) as required by the facility's needs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following company policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Safely and properly operate ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and other equipment necessary for accessing high or hard-to-reach areas.
Keep accurate records of materials used, time spent on projects, and progress toward completion.
Communicate effectively with facility managers, supervisors, other tradespeople, and clients to coordinate workflow and resolve issues.
Monitor environmental conditions and adapt techniques to ensure optimal paint application (e.g., temperature, humidity, ventilation).
Participate in routine maintenance and touch-up projects as scheduled or requested by the facility.
Dispose of hazardous materials and paint waste in accordance with environmental regulations and company policies.

What We're Looking For
Do you bring a well-rounded skill set and pride in your trade? We're seeking candidates who demonstrate:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship or technical training in painting is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in painting, preferably in commercial or industrial environments.
Proficiency with various painting tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, sprayers, mixers, and scaffolding.
Knowledge of different types of paint, finishes, and surface preparation techniques.
Ability to distinguish between colors and match paint accurately.
Familiarity with safety procedures, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks such as lifting, standing, kneeling, climbing, and working for extended periods.
Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results on schedule.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

Certification in lead-safe work practices or other specialty coatings.
Experience with commercial spray-painting systems and industrial finishes.
Knowledge of green or environmentally friendly painting products and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and adapt to changing project requirements.
Customer service orientation and professional demeanor when interacting with clients and colleagues.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a larger maintenance or facilities team.

Typical Work Environment
Commercial Facility Painters may work in a variety of environments, ranging from newly constructed buildings to occupied facilities undergoing renovation or maintenance. The role often requires the Painter to navigate active work zones, comply with facility-specific regulations, and work non-traditional hours, including nights or weekends, to minimize disruption to regular operations.
Physical Demands

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Extended periods of standing, bending, kneeling, or climbing ladders and scaffolding.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for detailed work.
Tolerance to exposure to paint fumes, chemicals, and dust (with appropriate PPE provided).
Working at heights or in confined spaces as required by the job.
