Software Verification Lead (Finance)

The application software verification lead position is an opportunity within our growing Neuromodulation Business Unit. This position reports to the director of software. It is responsible for the tests that ensure quality of our patient- and clinician-facing medical software. These are subsystems within a larger ecosystem of implantable devices, mobile device apps, and web-based subsystems. This position collaborates with their QA peer on the embedded software side using shared processes and tools. The ideal candidate has a strong background in test automation with C#, development of specialized test tools, and requirements tracing processes that are typical for regulated industries.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of verification engineers who focus on mobile device apps on Android and Windows
  • Implement and maintain tests with an emphasis on automation, rather than manual testing
  • Maintain test automation libraries and tools
  • Operate a fleet of devices and VMs that perform fully automated regression tests against CI builds of our product software
  • Generate and maintain relevant QA documentation
  • Generate and present ideas for continuous process improvement
  • Technology selection to meet evolving QA challenges
  • Train new team members
  • Review work products of team members
  • Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the manager

Your Profile

Education / Experience Requirements

  • BS Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field
  • 4 years of graduate-level coursework and/or experience in software development or QA
  • 3 years of experience using C#
  • 3 years of experience with development environments, debuggers, git, test automation, and defect tracking tools
  • 2 years of experience using Devops platforms with build/test/deploy pipelines (Azure Devops or similar modern platforms)
  • 2 years' experience in medical device or similarly regulated industry
  • 1 year Android app development or QA
  • Windows and Android system administration (OS updates, beta programs, fleet management)
  • Strong written and verbal skills

Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Experience developing or testing cross-platform mobile applications for Android, Windows
  • Managing a large body of regression tests
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity in mobile devices
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases (ideally Couchbase, Elastic)
  • Web technologies (REST APIs, JSON)
  • Virtualization technologies (vmWare, HyperV, Virtualbox or similar)
  • Experience with the concepts and development of Software as Medical Device (SaMD) and Mobile Medical Applications (MMA), as defined by FDA
  • Experience with FDA, 21CFR820, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and regulatory submission of Class III Medical Devices

Location

This position is remote across the US. We maintain an office in Lake Oswego, Oregon. We expect the engineer to occasionally travel for on-site meetings, and we prefer local candidates

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
