Maintenance Planner (Finance)



Overview

Location: Newberry, FL

Pay is dependent upon experience and will be discussed during the consideration process

The Maintenance Planner ensures equipment reliability and reduces downtime by effectively planning maintenance work. This includes organizing parts, tools, labor, and equipment, and coordinating with maintenance and operations teams. The role also reviews and prioritizes work orders to align with current plant conditions for safe and efficient execution. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) for safety incidents (accidents/near misses).
  • Ensure contractor understanding, implementation, and consistent adherence to safe work rules and practices
  • Review and validate the accuracy and completeness of work order fields before initiating the planning process.
  • Develop detailed, step-by-step task plans within work orders to clearly define the sequence of maintenance activities.
  • Determine the required manpower (number of personnel) and estimated duration for each task, including equipment downtime requirements.
  • Conduct field visits to review and validate the necessity, feasibility, and alignment of work re-quests with current plant conditions.
  • Allocate approximately 30% of time for on-site validation and 70% for work order management within the system.
  • Assess the availability of all required resources (materials, tools, manpower) and proactively address any shortages.
  • Collaborate with inventory and purchasing teams to optimize spare parts inventory through reg-ular reviews (critical spares, stockouts, obsolescence, excess inventory).
  • Provide support to Maintenance Coordinators in the development of weekly and outage sched-ules and maintenance programs.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Coordinator in outage preparation activities.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in monthly budget tracking, performance reporting to the team, and the implementation of corrective actions for any deviations.
  • Assist the Maintenance Coordinator in defining critical and strategic spare parts.
  • Monitor the availability of defined critical spare parts according to criticality studies
  • Maintain daily communication with the Purchasing department to track the progress of parts and supplies and prioritize critical orders.
  • Proactively follow up on critical jobs, providing frequent status updates to key stakeholders.
  • Participate in the performance appraisal cycle (feedback, planning, monitoring, and closure).
  • Identify opportunities for forming cross-functional teams to address issues through Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Participate in the evaluation of suppliers to ensure the competence of contracted resources.
  • Provide feedback to the Reliability Coordinator regarding planning requirements for updating maintenance plans.
  • Achieve target compliance for monthly KPIs related to planning and scheduling effectiveness, including:
    • Number of Work Orders Ready (WOs RDY): Target > 25 per week (depending on complexi-ty).
    • Work Order Pertinence Compliance: (Number of Invalid WOs / Number of WOs RDY).
    • Downtime Accuracy: (Number of WOs with Planned Downtime / Number of WOs with Actual Downtime).
    • Work Orders with Part or Service Issues: (Number of WOs with Part or Service Issues / Number of WOs RDY).
  • Conduct monthly gap analysis of planning indicators to assess objective compliance and devel-op action plans for improvement.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.

Education:

Mechanical engineering experience preferred.
Technical knowledge and certifications: Minimum 3 years' experience in cement manufacturing or related industry as maintenance Inspector or Maintenance Planner.

Systems Proficiency:

Utilize relevant software and systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP (Maintenance and Purchase Modules), for planning, tracking, and reporting maintenance activi-ties.
