Our Statutory Reporting unit, which is part of the External Reporting Team, has an opportunity for an Associate Manager. As part of the Corporate Controllers Department, the External Reporting Team supports GAAP financial reporting for PFI and the non-accelerated filers (Pruco's) and Statutory financial reporting on behalf of its insurance subsidiaries, various regulatory filing submissions, and internal and external audit support.

This Associate Manager is responsible for coordination, production, analysis, and review of the Statutory financial statements, and regulatory deliverables, for Prudential's domestic insurance companies, in compliance with state insurance department and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) requirements. The team partners with Business Unit Finance and Operational areas, Actuarial, as well as other Corporate business partners.

The current employee work arrangement for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.

What you can expect:

  • Support the production and preparation of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements, which are filed with state insurance departments and the NAIC. This includes compliance with all disclosure requirements and maintaining adequate reporting controls.
  • Oversight and preparation of quarterly Statutory Results packages for senior management in conjunction with Corporate Management Reporting and Business Unit Finance teams.
  • Facilitate the end-to-end Statutory audited financial statement process with external auditors and provide supporting analytics for senior management in advance of presentation of Statutory results to the Audit Committee.
  • Partner with Treasurers and Legal in support of the PICA funding agreement note issuance program (FANIP), including coordination of Statutory financial statements, required disclosures and Management Discussion & Analysis.
  • Review and/or preparation of various disclosures, supplemental exhibits and schedules for domestic Captive Insurers which are filed annually with the Arizona Department of Insurance.
  • Assist in researching matters related to Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP's) and NAIC instructions for business partners across the Enterprise.
  • Monitor key controls for the Corporate Stat Reporting process, as part of the Company's Management's Report on internal controls per the NAIC's Model Audit Rule requirement.
  • Support special projects designed to improve the efficiency of the financial reporting process. Oversee the preparation, analysis, and submission of ad-hoc requests from senior management and other business partners.

What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in accounting and financial reporting
  • Self-motivated and proactive, highly organized, accountable, and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated analytical, conceptual, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively to accomplish shared objectives
  • Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Able to effectively prioritize and manage a complex workload in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Proven proficiency of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) including advanced functions and formulas
  • Experience with financial reporting applications (e.g., Oracle general ledger, EFDW, Essbase)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment while meeting deadlines
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required during peak reporting cycles

It'd be a plus if you had:
  • Statutory accounting and reporting experience
  • Knowledge of technical Statutory Accounting principles
  • Experience with Workiva
  • MBA and/or CPA

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $92,400.00 to $137,400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
