Video Production Manager, Yahoo Finance (Finance)

Yahoo Finance is looking for a Video Production Manager who is a dynamic leader for our video initiatives and is the ultimate ringmaster to bring our financial news to life.

This role is based in New York City and follows a hybrid work schedule.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the Charge: Oversee the entire video production process. As part of the Operations team, you'll keep projects running smoothly-managing timelines, coordinating shoots, sourcing vendors, and ensuring all moving parts come together seamlessly. You'll be the go-to liaison between departments, ensuring productions stay on track. Bonus: If you love Airtable, you'll spend plenty of time building and optimizing workflows to keep everything organized and efficient!
  • Collaborate Creatively: Work with our production, text, marketing, and social media teams to execute videos that are informative, shareable, and trend-setting.
  • Manage with Mastery: Coordinate production schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring that each project runs smoothly and meets our high-quality standards.
  • Innovate and Inspire: Stay ahead of industry trends and continuously seek new techniques and technologies to keep Yahoo Finance at the forefront of digital media, making us the most efficient team!

What We're Looking For:
  • Experience Enthusiast: Proven track record in video production management, preferably within the news or financial sectors. Your portfolio showcases your ability to turn complex topics into engaging visual stories.
  • Leadership Luminary: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team of production, producers, editors, and creatives .
  • Detail Dynamo: Exceptional organizational skills with a knack for juggling multiple projects without a sweat.
  • Tech-Savvy Storyteller: Proficiency in video production tools and a deep understanding of the digital media landscape. You'll help the entire video team take their storytelling to the next level.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Oversee fundamental Production Manager responsibilities for both Field and Studio.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for Studio crews.
  • Build and maintain Airtable workflows.
  • Coordinate regular and ad hoc field shoot bookings.
  • Maintain crew booking databases such as crew calendars, crew contact information, training dates/spend, work orders, and pertinent crew scheduling guidance.
  • Coordinate logistics such as studio rentals, COIs, facilities requests, equipment purchases, shipping.
  • Create, distribute, and update weekly and daily show schedules and call sheets.
  • Facilitate onboarding and coordinate assignments for freelance crew members.
  • Post job openings on relevant production job boards and manage incoming resumes.
  • Act as a liaison between departments to ensure smooth coordination of shoots.
  • Perform as needed research-based projects (market, content, awards, etc).
  • Collect and sustain data/information that reflects monthly trends such as how many field shoots in one month, how many studio resources trained per quarter, etc.
  • Source vendors and coordinate the use of their services, including equipment rentals, repairs, and replacements
  • Work directly with Building Facilities and Security on any issues that affect crew, vendors, physical spaces (locked doors, freight bookings, temp badges, etc.)

Requirements:

  • 5+ years Production Management experience (booking, scheduling, managing crews + logistics).
  • Advanced knowledge/previous experience with Airtable (using, building, managing)
  • Strong ability to multitask; role requires multiple tasks to be completed/managed on a daily basis and often last minute.
  • Build and maintain Airtable workflows according to the team's needs, including creating tables, views and building efficiencies through new automations and processes.
  • Provide team/or individual training and support members on how to use Airtable effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills; must be able to manage multiple daily tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • Strong communication and diplomacy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience with posting/managing posts on Production job boards such as StaffMeUp, Mandy, etc.
  • Experience with/advanced knowledge of field gear.
  • Experience with international production.
  • Experience working with Purchase Orders (POs).

The compensation for this position ranges from $90,750.00 - $188,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
