Open Rank- Critical Care Intensivist (Finance)



The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (Department of Internal Medicine) at the University of South Florida is seeking an attending physician to serve in the MICU/ and or CTICU at Tampa General Hospital and the University of South Florida. This position plays a central role in the care of critically ill and surgical patients. This dual academic and clinical position involves managing complex conditions such as sepsis, respiratory failure, multi-organ dysfunction, and post-operative care of patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgeries, heart transplants, and mechanical circulatory support. As a key member of multidisciplinary teams, the attending provides clinical leadership during rounds, coordinates diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and ensures high-quality, evidence-based care.
The role includes educating and mentoring residents, fellows, and medical students, contributing to the academic mission of USF Health. Attendings also collaborate with specialists across disciplines to create individualized treatment plans and participate in quality improvement initiatives, protocol development, and research. Strong communication skills are essential for guiding families through critical decisions and complex care discussions. Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.

The position also provides Pulmonary and Critical Care services at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and/or other affiliated hospitals and clinics.

Teaching-The role includes an academic appointment with opportunities to participate in the education and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows within Critical Care clinics, consult services and lectures.

Administrative-In addition to clinical duties, the attending is responsible for timely and accurate completion of electronic medical records, including progress notes, orders, and discharge summaries. They also participate in required trainings, compliance activities, and other administrative or clerical tasks essential to patient care and unit operations.

Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university,
