Swim Instructor Aide (Mill Creek) (Biotech)

This position is for non-trained Swim Instructor candidates of any age. Once fully trained, the employee will be promoted to a Swim Instructor. Full range of pay grade for Swim Instructor role is $17.25-$26.25.

Position Summary:
Assist a certified Swim Instructor throughout swimming classes/programs. Provide leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in YMCA Swim Lesson programs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist in instructing swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines
Develop positive relationships with members and participants and provides motivational support and guidance
Encourage member and parent involvement and recruits potential volunteers
Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers members and participants to other programs
Assist in maintaining records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.)
Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures, complete incident and accident reports as necessary
Organize and puts away needed class equipment, report damaged equipment
Completion of YMCA specific training/certifications as directed
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Minimum age 16 +
Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards:
o Swim 150 yards
- 25 yards front crawl
- 25 yards breast stroke
- 25 yards back crawl
- 25 yards butterfly
- 25 yards side stroke
- 25 yards elementary backstroke
o Perform continuous CPR for at least 2 minutes
Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness
Work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
Fluency in second language desired
