Position Summary

The Community Impact Specialist reports to the Supervisor, Community Outreach and is responsible for the implementation and management of community outreach programs, events, and partnerships that align with the company's mission and core values. This role involves cultivating strong relationships with community organizations, managing corporate donations and sponsorships, leading continuing education efforts, engaging employee volunteers, and ensuring maximum brand awareness through community initiatives. This position is also responsible for analyzing the impact of community programs and supporting effective communication strategies to both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Community Program Management

• Lead and execute various community outreach initiatives, continuing education programs, sponsorships, events, community relations efforts, and donation programs.

• Drive the success of key programs like Delta Dental's Land of Smiles (in Missouri and South Carolina), including strategic outreach to schools, content, and material management.

• Expand the reach of Delta Dental's Dental Care Resource Guide by keeping provider lists updated, developing collateral materials, and collaborating with community partners for effective distribution.

• Lead all aspects of project planning and execution for events, continuing education programs from concept development and logistics to communications and branding.

• Develop and implement detailed plans for sponsored and partnership events.

• Maximize brand visibility and positive community impact through strategic leveraging of all programs and partnerships.

• Establish and refine methods for analyzing, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of community outreach programs and partnerships to demonstrate results.

• Identify and coordinate community volunteering opportunities to engage employees in the company mission.

• Research, develop, and communicate opportunities for employee volunteerism and corporate matching programs.

Community Impact Communications

• Implement and track the performance of eblast campaigns, including content creation and metric analysis.

• Collaborate to develop and promote compelling content related to community outreach for both internal and external audiences.

• Create impactful collateral materials to support community programs, events, and educational initiatives.

Other Responsibilities

• Act as a representative for Delta Dental of Missouri in various community groups and organizations.

• Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of all community initiatives, recommending innovative ideas to increase community reach and implementing improvements.

• Foster a culture of creativity and innovation in all community outreach endeavors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations, or equivalent.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in community outreach, corporate marketing, or communications.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat required. 

• Understands and is inspired by Delta Dental's mission to improve the oral and overall health of the community, aligning their professional values with this purpose.

• Proven excellent writing, editing, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing tactical components of a project plan for sponsored programs and events.

• Effective project management skills and the ability to deliver expected results as part of a team or as an individual contributor.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently, by effectively setting priorities and managing workload. 

• Consistently brings creativity, imagination, and a strong sense of brand value to projects, resulting in innovative and impactful outcomes. 

• Demonstrates critical thinking—can quickly understand how tasks support the objectives and consider new paths to more effective solutions.

• Demonstrates creative thinking—produces new, imaginative, and unique ideas.

• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills; capable of building and maintaining positive, constructive working relationships with all levels of internal and external constituents.

Environment

This position currently functions as a hybrid role working from both home and in-office environments. Any home office setting must be conducive to all guidelines outlined by the organization. This role is required to regularly attend in-person meetings, the frequency of which is determined by management based on departmental or organizational needs. 

Work Conditions

• General office working conditions which may require sitting for extended periods of time.

• Open to periodic travel (3-4 times per year) for short durations, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to supporting project and team needs across locations.
