Data Engineer/Lead Analyst - Cigna Healthcare - Remote (Finance)



How you'll make a difference:
As a Data Engineer, you'll be a key contributor to the development and optimization of data products that drive insights and innovation across the enterprise. You'll work hands-on with modern data technologies to build scalable pipelines, support analytics, and enable data-driven decision-making. This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience who's ready to take ownership of technical solutions and grow into a leadership path within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using PySpark, SQL, and Python within the Databricks ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable engineering solutions.
  • Own the development and deployment of ETL processes that support enterprise data products and reporting needs.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of data models and architecture in Snowflake and other cloud platforms.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions.
  • Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, ensuring reliability and scalability across large datasets.
  • Support data governance and lineage efforts by implementing best practices in version control (Git) and metadata management.
  • Research and propose new tools, frameworks, or approaches to improve data engineering workflows.
  • Take initiative in identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and innovation within the data engineering space.

Experience:

  • Solid understanding of data engineering principles and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, SQL in a production environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on technical challenges.
  • Experience with Git for version control and collaborative development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Interest in healthcare data and a desire to make a meaningful impact through data-driven solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field, preferred
  • 2 plus years of experience in data engineering or a related technical role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data architecture and modeling concepts.
  • Experience in healthcare, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries is a plus.
  • Must have access to a reliable internet connection (minimum 10Mbps download / 5Mbps upload) if working remotely.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 80,400 - 134,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
