VP, Head of Social Media (Finance)

Summary

Mizuho Americas, a leading corporate and investment bank in the US, is experiencing tremendous growth. Our Corporate Communications & Marketing division is looking for a VP, Head of Social Media. We're a team of passionate doers who are proactive and committed to collaborating with our colleagues to further position Mizuho as a top 10 corporate and investment bank in the Americas.

As part of the Integrated Communications & Content Strategy team, you will be responsible for managing our corporate social media channels and helping to grow the firm's global presence. Our ideal candidate will have experience working cross-functionally at an enterprise-level organization driving strategy for social media programs that support business and brand objectives. You must be able to collaborate effectively with a talented team of marketing & PR professionals, as well as interface directly with business heads, executives, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Own and develop the social media strategy across organic, paid, and employee advocacy channels that align with our overall brand strategy and business objectives.
  • Lead paid social media strategy and execution in partnership with external media agency to develop and launch always-on and bespoke campaigns.
  • Lead expansion of employee advocacy program (Hearsay) and provide governance support for how the firm and its employees show up on social in a responsible manner.
  • Execute the firm's social media strategy, including content creation, content curation, campaign building, community management, community engagement, and reporting.
  • In partnership with the Social Media Associate, manage social media content calendar for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X, maintaining a consistent cadence across all channels.
  • Develop creative social media posts to engage key audiences, while identifying opportunities to insert the brand into relevant conversations.
  • Write and publish all original, high-quality content for corporate channels and select business spokespeople (i.e., equity research analysts).
  • Attend relevant on-site and off-site events as needed to capture content for social, including our marquee conferences and sports sponsorships.
  • Analyze and report out on key social media activities and campaigns on a monthly, quarterly and ad hoc basis.
  • Assist with promoting Mizuho's social media activities with key stakeholders to educate them about the value and importance of social media marketing.
  • Maintain responsibility for governance and social monitoring around key reputational issues and crisis management. Collaborate with our Tokyo head office as well as other regional offices throughout EMEA and APAC.
  • Work closely with legal and compliance to ensure social media practices adhere to regulatory requirements, following Mizuho's social media policy and approval guidelines.
  • Perform ongoing competitor audits for creative inspiration and strategy intelligence.
  • Educate colleagues by identifying, setting and sharing best practices for how to strengthen our brand's reputation through the use of social media.
  • Stay up-to-date on social media trends to identify new opportunities for the brand.
  • Foster the development and growth of one junior team member.

Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of experience managing social media programs at an enterprise organization or large agency
  • Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, communications, or related field
  • Subject matter expert on paid and organic best practices for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube; proven results building social following and engagement.
  • Proficiency with social publishing and employee advocacy tools (e.g., Sprinklr, Hearsay) with strong experience creating captivating content specifically for social.
  • Experience with paid social media strategy and set-up (LinkedIn & Meta) and knowledge of paid campaign optimizations and recommendations
  • A clear understanding of social analytics, and how to apply those findings to improve programs.
  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complex financial jargon into snackable and engaging content.
  • Strong relationship management skills, experience working with stakeholders cross-functionally and in global markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work across multiple projects simultaneously; exceptional time-management and organizational skills.
  • Creative, proactive, out-of-the-box thinker and motivated leader.
  • Financial services industry experienced required. Investment banking and markets experience a plus.

The expected base salary ranges from $150,000.00 -$165,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
