Summary:

Leads the implementation of best practice maintenance and reliability initiatives throughout the Ash Grove Cement (AGC) network of plants and terminals. A region is typically the size of 3-5 cement plants with multiple terminals. Typically adapts and develops maintenance and reliability strategies to assist the operations in making the best use of their resources. Aligns the efforts of corporate and operational teams to achieve strong performance in maintenance that is aligned well with the maintenance task force objectives.

Collaborates with Corporate Reliability Engineer and with many maintenance and reliability personnel throughout AGC. Works closely with the Director of Manufacturing Services and keeps them informed on all aspects of maintenance and reliability.

The jobholder must display ambition and self-motivation whilst being a team player with strong influencing and collaborative skills. Must also possess technical proficiency.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Coordinate maintenance strategy for AGC network of plants and terminals. Reviews Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for operations to understand progress and to continually align operational teams in terms of their areas of opportunity and improvement.
  • Oversee an appropriate best practice maintenance system that documents a simple approach to the aspects of maintenance to ensure a consistent and high-quality approach.
  • Ensure strong alignment across maintenance teams in terms of maintenance task forces. Promote a culture of open and transparent sharing of maintenance issues combined with a performance improvement culture. Assess performance using assessment tools where appropriate.
  • Supports strategic development of plant maintenance department talent, training program development for hourly staff, and succession strategies for salary positions
  • Support operations on specific technical maintenance and engineering issues where appropriate. Promote safe working practices for all maintenance and reliability-related work.
  • Review significant reliability issues at plants and advise the Director of Manufacturing Services and plant teams on the best path forward on the same.
  • Review and evaluate Capex requests and look at Opex Maintenance budgets, particularly Major Overhaul budgets, in detail.
  • Ensure that plant teams invest time and resources in structured major overhaul planning.
  • Develop effective training support for operational maintenance and reliability teams and corporate reliability personnel.
  • Liaise with internal AGC engineering resources, Group Technical Services, and outside resources where appropriate to the aims above.
  • Responsible for the development and support of the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Work closely with the Director of Electrical Engineering on all aspects of maintenance and reliability work that require cross-functional input.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • Minimum 4 years - Bachelor's Degree in relevant engineering discipline: mechanical, electrical, civil.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the cement industry, or similar process industry, with line management experience and/or consulting experience across multiple locations in the areas of maintenance and reliability. Project, commissioning, or optimization experience is beneficial. Experience in leading people regarding the improvement of safety culture is necessary.
