Technical Sales Engineer (Sales)

Job Summary:

Manages all pre-sale technical customer interaction and information.

 Primary Responsibilities:  

• Manage the technical estimating and quotation process
• Establish and maintain database of technical sales information
• Prepare sales proposals in collaboration with sales and/or operations leaders
• Support pre-sale activities including proposal follow-up, exchange of technical information, and processing of commercial terms
• Collaborate with Engineering to manage and maintain the estimating tools
• Collaborate with Sales leadership to draft and produce sales tools
• Develop and produce regular and periodic business reports as requested

 QUALIFICATIONS

• BS/BA in business or technical discipline. MS/MBA desirable.
• More than 5 years successfully managing or selling solutions to the Solar PV market.
• Thorough knowledge of PV SBOS systems (PV racking, trackers, etc.)

 Expected Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer-provided technical information including project design packages, layouts, and material specifications
• Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation
• Ability to effectively present both technical and commercial information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and suppliers
• Positive and professional interaction with customers and coworkers in written, telephone, and in-person settings
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
• Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft office programs, especially Excel
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Work Environment

• Combination of home office and in-person work at SOL in Sacramento, CA. Semi-regular travel, <20%

Compensation 

• Starting pay targeting between $110,000 - $160,000
