Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant SNF (Healthcare)

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to assist in providing meaningful and goal-oriented occupational therapy services to residents. The COTA supports the restoration of residents functional independence and improvement of quality of life in accordance with state, federal, and facility guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans based on resident evaluations and goals.Deliver occupational therapy treatments as directed, focusing on improving activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and functional independence.Monitor resident progress and communicate changes or concerns to the supervising OT.Document all services provided, including observations and resident responses, in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.Educate residents, families, and caregivers on strategies for continued care and safe function.Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care plan development, and discharge planning.Maintain equipment and treatment areas in a clean and safe condition.Adhere to ethical and professional standards of practice and facility policies.

Qualifications:
Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.Current certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).Licensed or eligible for licensure as a COTA in the state employed.Current CPR certification (preferred).Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting is preferred but not required.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move patients or equipment, as necessary.Must be able to perform tasks that require physical endurance and mobility throughout the workday.
