Position Summary
The ServiceNow Platform Architect is responsible for the overall technical vision, architecture, and integrity of our ServiceNow platform. This role will work closely with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and development teams to ensure our ServiceNow instance is reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. You will set technical standards, lead platform governance, and design solutions that meet complex business requirements while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the ServiceNow platform architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and business goals.
  • Lead the design and implementation of ServiceNow modules, including ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, IRM, HRSD, and custom applications.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for ServiceNow integrations, data flows, and automation across the organization.
  • Develop and enforce platform governance, best practices, and standards for development, testing, deployment, and operations.
  • Provide architectural guidance to internal teams and third-party partners, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and high performing.
  • Evaluate and implement new ServiceNow features, capabilities, and upgrades, staying current with platform innovations and industry trends.
  • Partner with InfoSec, risk, and compliance teams to ensure platform and data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to ServiceNow administrators, developers, and business analysts.
  • Troubleshoot complex platform issues and ensure a high level of reliability and user satisfaction.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of IT experience, with at least 3 years as a ServiceNow Architect in an enterprise environment.
  • Proven expertise with ServiceNow platform architecture, modules, and integrations (REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, etc.).
  • Experience in a regulated industry (financial services, banking, insurance, etc.) and understanding of related compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL/ITSM principles and enterprise IT processes.
  • Solid knowledge of data security, privacy, and regulatory standards relevant to financial services.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) required; additional ServiceNow certifications (CIS, CAD, CTA) strongly preferred.

Salary Range:
$137,400 - 233,600 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
