Data Analyst II (Finance)



Location: Sioux Falls, SD 
Shift: M-F 8am-5pm

About the Role
Responsible for the completion of analytically driven actionable insights and the tracking/reporting processes within an analytics team, completing tasks/analyses in support of all assigned Operational Areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides actionable data and insights business leaders can leverage in strategic management decisions.
  • Evaluate credit card operational activities for opportunities to improve overall business operations.
  • Must interpret and explain links between data being pulled and the impact on the department and/or overall business.
  • Ensure calculated metrics are accurate and based upon sound mathematical principles.
  • Modify or write SQL queries for Power BI/SharePoint RS reporting or analytics.
  • Translate large raw data sets into easy-to-understand visual representations that display facts, patterns, and other relevant information.  This could include dashboards, reports, charts, graphs, infographics, or visual presentations.
  • Understand basic data and data structures, and query and interpret data to understand and improve business functions.
  • Compilation of application data, portfolio statistical data, and performance data from multiple sources to provide management insights.
  • Accomplish daily tasks carefully and thoroughly, with questions asked to ensure that the job is done correctly.
  • Must be able to fulfill the responsibilities of the position with management oversight; assess priorities and changing needs, and coordinate with others accordingly.
  • Communicating and clarifying with business areas to determine/identify reporting needs and business/customer requirements that are related to the long/short-term goals of the business.
  • Present analysis to management including alternatives derived from analysis clearly and understandably.

 Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and 1-2 years added experience preferred.  
  • Degree or advanced degree in Data Science/Analytics preferred or in related fields such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Actuarial, and Business Administration and/or a combination of degree and/or relevant experience are accepted.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of the credit card system.
  • Basic coding of SQL and/or SAS or equivalent (Python, R) experience is required and Power BI or equivalent (Tableau) experience is preferred.
  • Advanced PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word and Access, Power BI or equivalent (Tableau), SQL and/or SAS or equivalent (Python, R). 
  • Proficiency in the English language. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization including colleagues.  
  • Ability to concentrate and work independently. 
  • Attention to detail, analytical, organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Capacity to learn, adapt to change, and become proficient quickly.
