Sr Advanced Systems Engineer (Finance)



You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Clearwater, FL location. This role is eligible for hybrid work mode, except for the first 90 days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead cross-functional teams in the conception, planning, and execution of new product developments by employing a robust Systems Engineering process. Oversee the comprehensive phases of customer and/or regulatory requirements elicitation, requirements development, system architecture design, and rigorous verification and validation at every stage, ensuring strict compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth customer requirement analysis and comprehensive feasibility assessments, producing detailed requirement specifications that ensure traceability from system levels down to subsystems and components. Implement a structured approach to managing requirement changes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Formulate robust technical solutions encompassing architecture designs, test strategies, and integration pathways. Maintain extensive collaboration with stakeholders to ensure solutions adhere to customer requirements, performance criteria, and operational expectations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including but not limited to system-level requirements, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Hardware Requirements Specifications (HRS), Printed Board Assembly (PBA) Design Specifications, Software Test Plans and Procedures compliant with DO-178 for Software/System Requirement Verification, and Hardware Verification Test Plans and Procedures adhering to DO-254 for Airborne Complex Electronic Hardware Requirement Verification, along with essential certification documents.
  • Design System Verification Test Cases and procedures to meet compliance with DO-178 and DO-254 standards. Establish metrics and validation criteria to ensure rigorous system testing and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain advanced GPS/INS Navigation simulation tools and covariance analysis tests for Performance Verification Testing. Utilize Kalman Filter measurement error state-based design and selection methods to support software development goals and optimize navigation solutions.
  • Oversee the complete integration of M-Code, P(Y)-Code and SPS GPS receivers within the Embedded GPS/INS product line, providing technical support for a wide range of system integration, verification, and validation efforts throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain automated Spirent Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulation test frameworks, computer-based modeling and simulation test environment, and Monte Carlo test frameworks, enhancing the efficiency of testing processes and ensuring high fidelity in simulation outputs.
  • Conduct system integration Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes, leading to effective issue resolution to improve system reliability and overall product quality.
  • Lead critical design review meetings (SRR, PDR, TRR, CDR, FCA/PCA, TIMs) with internal and external stakeholders to assess design integrity and compliance with both technical and customer specifications.
  • Manage and oversee the financial aspects of systems engineering projects by applying earned value management (EVM) techniques to evaluate project performance against the budget. Execute risk assessment and mitigation strategies to ensure financial stability throughout project execution.
  • Update and maintain project schedules from a Systems Engineering perspective, ensuring that all phases of development are on track and aligned with program timelines.
  • Identify potential financial and technical risks related to project development and deploy strategic initiatives to mitigate them proactively, ensuring the sustained delivery of project objectives.
  • Provide technical expertise to Customer Business Managers and the Technical Sales Director during business pursuits to ensure the alignment of product offerings with customer needs.
  • Lead proposal efforts as a subject matter expert, driving technical baseline definitions and the development of Basis of Estimates (BOEs) to accurately align with customer requirements and project goals.
  • Identify, develop, and execute strategies for cost reduction, schedule optimization, and overall technical efficiency improvements across projects.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to engineering team members throughout all phases of product development. Support their growth and development in requirements definition, system architecture, software architecture, hardware architecture, documentation, integration, and verification/validation processes.
  • Provide on-request technical support for fielded systems, ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide up to 20% domestic travel support to fulfill program requirements, engage stakeholders, and ensure effective customer engagement.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • A minimum of 8 years of comprehensive experience across all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, encompassing requirements analysis, system design, architecture development, integration, testing, verification, and validation.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in data analytics, showcasing the ability to interpret complex datasets, conduct predictive analytics, and utilize statistical methods to derive actionable insights.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including proficiency in statistical concepts and methods, that enable thorough analysis and reporting of technical findings.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.

WE VALUE
  • A Master of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, or C++ is essential. The candidate should possess the ability to develop, maintain, and enhance software tools and scripts that optimize engineering processes and increase overall productivity.
  • Proven experience with MATLAB and Simulink, showcasing the ability to develop and execute simulations, engage in model-based design, and contribute to algorithm development.
  • An advanced understanding of DO-178 and DO-254 is crucial, along with familiarity with all Stages of Involvement (SOI) in these processes and their associated documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Requirements and Configuration Management tools, including but not limited to DOORS, JIRA, BitBucket, Bamboo, and Collaborator, is important. Candidates should effectively manage requirements and ensure traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Individuals who excel at quickly analyzing, assimilating, and applying new information and concepts.
