JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing essential mechanical tasks, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance for winery equipment. Responsibilities encompass a variety of technical skills such as welding, electrical work, fire system maintenance, and HVAC servicing. The role involves installing, repairing, and modifying both existing and new equipment, as well as fabricating simple parts as needed. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, requiring adherence to safe operating procedures and active support of safety programs and policies to ensure the protection of personal safety, company assets, the environment, and the well-being of team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain focus on safety, efficiency goals and quality objectives. 
  • Safely follow operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal and co-workers' safety and company assets.
  • Under limited supervision performs basic service, troubleshooting, repair, modification, installation of equipment.  
  • Basic welding, machining, and fabrication.
  • Mechanical repair of pumps, filters, valves, tanks and juice/wine processing equipment
  • Understand and troubleshoot motors and motor controls.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical machinery.
  • Safely remove, repair, or replace machine parts, both mechanical and electrical.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Understanding basic schematics for mechanical, piping and construction projects. 
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 2-4 Years of Experience Required.
  • Will regularly use hand tools.
  • Must have basic math and writing skills.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, work from heights and in small spaces and be physically agile to perform required work.
  • Must be able to recognize hazards.
  • Must have good reasoning and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have core facility, operations safety culture.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Repeatedly ascend/descend stairs and ladders at heights of 40' and higher.
  • Work with hazardous materials requiring the use of Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) including respirators, gloves, eye and face protection, and chemical resistant coverings.
  • Safely work around and operate mechanical equipment and tools.
  • Move objects in and about an industrial tank storage and transfer environment with weights of up to 60 pounds at varying frequencies.
  • Stand or remain in a stationary position for long periods of time when required.
  • Operate an office workstation and other office equipment, such as a computer screen, keyboard, mouse, copier and printer for extended periods of time.  
  • Constantly position self to operate the production machinery necessary to perform work-related tasks.
  • Operate machinery used to inspect and analyze products in the laboratory and production environments for extended period of time.

  • Ability to frequently move, transport and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds at varying frequencies.
  • Ability to operate various types of machinery to include, but not limited to, lift trucks, hand trucks, dishwashers etc.
  • Ability to move, traverse, and/or position oneself in the performance of various tasks.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in and around outdoor elements such as precipitation, wind, low/high temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Move safely over uneven and/or wet terrain.

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly Pay Range Posted: $24.52 - 36.73/hr.
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position related factors.
