Quality Technician 1 - Woodbridge (R&D)

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, provide and ensure Quality Services operational support during the packaging process.  Validate compliance to finished goods specifications. Adherence to GMP's and conduct routine packaging line and package audits on finished products.  Communicate with and provide feedback to production team members to facilitate process improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review and ensure line sanitation completion prior to start-up of production
  • Verify product and supporting records prior to startup of production and tank transfers
  • Verify bottle, case labels and other dry material per SAP work order prior to start-up of production
  • Perform quality line checks against quality requirements and records data through-out production
  • Pull finished product samples at defined intervals and evaluates against quality requirements including laboratory analysis and packaging inspections.
  • Maintain clear, concise and accessible records of all data from all line monitoring activities, and analysis of finished goods samples
  • Plate bottled wine samples for microbial stability assessment.
  • Routinely pull, record and store hold back samples throughout production
  • Communicate quality issues to Senior level Quality Technician or Supervisor.  Support investigations
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment
  • Run control checks on equipment to ensure it is working properly
  • Performs typical lab analyses with accuracy, precision, timeliness in accordance with SOPs
  • Maintain lab and equipment cleanliness and a safe, sanitary working environment.
  • Adhere to and promote safety in accordance with policies and procedures. Report issues to Supervisor in a timely manner
  • Promote teamwork among the lab staff and all winery personnel.
  • Assist with analytical lab duties as instructed by Sr. Quality Technician or Supervisor
  • Cross-train on other lab duties
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree in science-related field
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions/directions
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Must be able to recognize potential problems that require solutions to be found at a higher level
  • Ability to develop general proficiency with all laboratory equipment
  • Basic writing and mathematical skills
  • Basic skill level in using computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions/directions
  • Able to work a flexible schedule with overtime as requested, including weekends and off shifts.
  • 0-2 Years' packaging or quality and/or Lab experience
  • Knowledge of quality control or auditing procedures
  • Manufacturing experience in a high-volume production environment
  • Familiarity with SAP, Access, Vintrace and Intellepac

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Work both indoors and outdoors in and around outdoor elements such as precipitation, wind, low/high temperatures, and elevated noise levels.
  • Work at elevated heights and on wet or uneven surfaces.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts and in areas with lift truck traffic.
  • Exposure to loud noise, fumes, and/or hazardous chemicals requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequently move, transport, and position objects weighing up to 55 pounds at varying frequencies.
  • Primary work environment may include warehouse or distribution settings.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods of time.
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment (e.g., keyboard, mouse, copier, printer) for extended periods.

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly Pay Range Posted: $20.50 - $29.00/hr.
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position-related factors.
