Principal React Native Engineer, Design Systems (Finance)

Yahoo is seeking a Principal Engineer with extensive expertise in React Native to spearhead our cross-platform mobile initiatives. In this role, you'll architect and deliver mobile-native components aligned with our web systems, ensuring consistent experiences across iOS, Android, and web platforms. Your role will bridge critical gaps, optimize performance, and shape the future direction of mobile development at Yahoo.

Primary Focus:

• Developing robust, high-performance cross-platform mobile components using React Native and TypeScript.
• Ensuring visual, functional, and accessibility parity with existing web design systems.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement mobile-native components leveraging React Native and TypeScript.
• Guarantee consistency and parity with web-based systems in terms of design, user interaction, and accessibility.
• Optimize mobile components specifically tailored to address the performance intricacies of iOS and Android.
• Act as a technical leader, working collaboratively with mobile teams across Yahoo to ensure seamless adoption, integration, and support.
• Establish and document mobile theming systems, responsive layouts, and platform-specific best practices.

Qualifications:

• Deep expertise in React Native and TypeScript, with proven experience building complex, performant cross-platform mobile apps.
• Solid understanding of mobile architecture, including detailed knowledge of platform-specific design patterns for iOS and Android.
• Demonstrable experience in optimizing React Native applications for enhanced performance, usability, and responsiveness.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience leading and mentoring cross-functional engineering teams.
• Familiarity with mobile accessibility standards and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Exceptional knowledge of mobile architecture, UI design patterns, and platform-specific nuances.
• Proven experience bridging web and mobile engineering teams to maintain platform parity and consistency.
• Demonstrated ownership and deep understanding of mobile-specific performance optimizations, gesture handling, and adaptive layout behavior.

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
