A Day in the Life

The Senior Advanced Analytics Analyst supports the design, execution and validation of real-world data analyses essential for determining the safety, efficacy, and marketability of medical devices. As a subject matter expert of the platform and data, the Sr Advanced Analytics Analyst conducts statistical analysis on data and information to ensure the highest quality of data for research & evidence generation; manages all aspects of end-to-end data processing utilizing customized report building functions of systems as needed; maintains analytical systems, verifies the accuracy of the data, and works with other project team members to resolve data-related discrepancies of any findings.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Health Economics & Outcomes Research, Clinical, and Research & Technology colleagues to execute on real-world data (RWD) projects supporting the development of evidence, insights and tools across the Cardiac Rhythm Management & Diagnostic portfolio.
  • Partner with Information Technology to securely and compliantly configure Amazon Web Services for RWD onboarding, linking, and database loading.
  • Partner with internal and external compliance teams to implement platform and data safeguards necessary for protecting both corporate data assets and patient privacy.
  • Process, load and maintain large, observational databases using a Linux-based tool kit (BASH, SPARK, R, Python) and scalable query platforms. (Athena, Snowflake).
  • Design, code, test, execute and document programs for data characterization, validation, quality assessment, analytic dataset creation, data transfer and reporting.
  • Extract, clean and conduct high-level analysis of administrative, claims, electronic health record, and device data under the guidance of a multidisciplinary team. Develop and implement standardized reports, tables, coding algorithms and clinical condition hierarchies according to sponsor requirements.
  • Link data assets from multiple environments/sources.
  • Promotion of and adherence to data governance processes.

Must Have; Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a computational scientific field (e.g., statistics, bioinformatics, computer science)
  • Minimum 4 years' experience with programming and analysis of therapeutic or diagnostic device-collected data
  • Or minimum 2 years' experience with programming and analysis of therapeutic or diagnostic device-collected data with an advanced degree

Nice To Have

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Proficiency in R/SQL/BASH programming and Linux
  • Extensive programming and RWD manipulation experience or capability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in healthcare industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, insurance, hospital, health system)
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, Snowflake
  • Experience with SPARK
  • Experience with Git & Gitlab
  • Experience with Medicare data, commercial claims data, or EHR data
  • Experience in the analysis, synthesis, and presentation of complex data from multiple sources
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization
  • Proven relationship-building and maintaining skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to communicate complex analytical techniques in a way that is understandable by non-quantitative audiences
  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to speak, write and understand English to comply with written procedures, instructions, SOPs and other documents

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$96,000.00 - $144,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
