Position Overview

As the Inventory Control Specialist, you will be responsible for managing inventory control activities within all fulfillment and equipment areas at the Port Allen Distribution Center. This position will also leverage existing business processes and continuously monitor, mange, and improve business performance related to inventory control and accuracy, cycle counting procedures, receiving processes and replenishment.

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Distribution liaison between Corporate Control, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality and Sales Operations, related to inventory control and accuracy, cycle counting audit process and results
  • Responsible for overseeing the daily processing of transactions for receipt, transfer and issue of product. Ensures quality checks are in place for all inbound and outbound activity
  • Responsible for developing and enforcing inventory management strategies, processes, and procedures utilized by the distribution team.
  • Investigate and generate variance reporting to correct all affected SKUs and locations; Perform root cause analysis to identify procedural gaps that contribute to inventory variances for all products managed within the facility
  • Identify inefficient processes and procedures and recommend changes to operational procedures or controls to reduce future inventory discrepancies, shortages, losses, and out of stocks for all products managed within the facility
  • Manage the weekly expiring inventory review and reporting. Ensuring correct rotation of products within the warehouse environment
  • Manage the counting activities (daily, monthly, and yearly) and measured controls for accuracy checks to ensure timely resolutions for all discrepancies
  • Manage annual facility inventory audit, coordinating with FP&A for compliance to standards
  • Responsible for the replenishment needs within all fulfillment areas with the distribution center by monitoring and forecasting stock levels from internal and external suppliers to ensure uninterrupted service to the customer
  • Manage and verify quality control procedures in the event of product withdrawal, contamination, distress, mock recalls and disposal.
  • Manage assigned P&L to ensure compliance with expenditure requirements
  • Implement and Monitor key performance metrics for senior management and employee reporting for location performance
  • Required to audit, review and contribute to continuous improvements in inventory control processes and practices at various sales locations, distribution centers and third party distribution or fulfillment sites
  • Super User for the SAP (WMS) Warehouse Management Automation System
  • Identify and standardize processes to improve operation efficiency, utilize lean tools: 5's, GEMBA walks and Kaizen events to promote continuous improvement activity. Lead and manage special projects
  • Required to serve as backup to the Distribution Supervisor
  • Required to be an active member of site Safety Committee
  • Adhere to all Safety and Quality requirements
  • May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in related field from four-year college or university preferred
  • 1 year in an inventory management role or similar position
    • Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources
  • Experience with a Warehouse Management System required, preferably with SAP WMS
  • Experience in a Distribution / Warehouse environment preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Field Sales Environment- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be moderately loud in warehouse areas
