Production Supervisor (Finance)



Supervises and coordinates activities of productions shift operations by performing the following:

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Direct supervision of work crews processing materials to customer specification in a safe and productive manner.
  • Interprets product specifications and job orders to workers and assigns duties.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure production deadlines are met.
  • Coordinates quality control inspections for compliance to standard specifications.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, environmental requirements, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Assist with hiring, training, and supervising maintenance staff and contractors.
  • Develops maintenance policies, procedures, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Plans shifts, assigns work, and ensures projects stay on schedule.
  • Orders and manages tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Responds to and performs maintenance work as needed.
  • Evaluates worksites, conducts safety inspections, and escalates issues with recommendations.
  • Ensures compliance with company EHS policies and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Maintenance Knowledge:

  • Pump installation, alignment, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across all areas
  • General millwright experience
  • Knowledge of wood production equipment
  • Pipefitting, welding, and electrical skills

Management duties include supervision of exempt and/or non-exempt staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations and improvement plans, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing candidates for open positions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree; or two to four years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Supervisory experience in wood products and other manufacturing environments.
  • License/Certification: N/A
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, database software, word processing software, and presentation software.
