Advanced Test Engineer (Finance)



As an Advanced Test Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of a diverse portfolio of switches and sensors that support multiple business units within Honeywell Safety and Security. You will lead and coordinate testing activities for assigned projects, including developing comprehensive test plans, executing test procedures, and producing detailed reports. Your electrical engineering background, ideally complemented by mechanical experience, will enable you to set up and operate complex test fixtures that integrate both electrical and mechanical elements. You will also collaborate closely with internal and external customers to clearly communicate test setups and results, supporting confidence in our products.

You will report directly to our the Senior Engineer Test Supervisor and you will work out of our Freeport, IL location on an onsite work schedule.

By analyzing test data and working cross-functionally, you will identify opportunities for product improvements and contribute to delivering high-quality, reliable solutions. Your technical expertise and hands-on involvement will provide valuable guidance and support to other test engineers, helping the team achieve excellence in their work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate comprehensive testing activities for assigned projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines
  • Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans and procedures for a variety of switches and sensors
  • Set up and operate test fixtures combining electrical and mechanical components to accurately evaluate product performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to define test requirements and communicate results effectively
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for product improvement
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior test engineers and team members to enhance overall testing capabilities

COMPENSATION

The annual base salary range for this position is $102,000 - $128,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • 6+ years of experience in test engineering, preferably with electrical and mechanical testing
  • Strong knowledge of test methodologies, tools, and hands-on experience with engineering test equipment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision

  • Experience leading and coordinating testing activities and projects
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, including root cause analysis and application of Six Sigma principles
  • Familiarity with military specifications and documentation (e.g., MIL-PRF-8805) used in test methods and procedures for aerospace and defense products
  • Previous leadership or mentorship roles within engineering or test teams
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, and environmental test support
  • Strong technical judgment and the ability to provide sound recommendations
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions in complex situations, balancing analysis with decisiveness
  • Self-motivated individuals who proactively identify and address issues before being directed
