Housekeeper- Full Time (Maintenance)



Job Title: Housekeeper

Position Summary:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This includes cleaning resident rooms, common areas, restrooms, and hallways while following infection control and safety protocols. The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding service in a healthcare setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness of all public and common areas, including lobbies, restrooms, drinking fountains, and hallways throughout the day.
  • Clean and sanitize resident rooms and bathrooms, including floors, toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
  • Ensure handrails are clean and free of dust or debris.
  • Clean walls, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, towel dispensers, and other surfaces.
  • Empty trash receptacles and replace liners as needed.
  • Sweep and mop floors in assigned areas.
  • Follow safety protocols including the proper placement of caution signs and safe storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Use cleaning equipment and products according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain housekeeping carts, storage rooms, and equipment in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition.
  • Report any resident safety concerns immediately to the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing.
  • Inform the Director of Housekeeping when cleaning supplies need to be replenished.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting, is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and safety procedures.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Language Requirements:
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, and talk or hear.
  • Daily use of housekeeping equipment and cleaning supplies.
  • Occasional use of office equipment (e.g., copier, phone, calculator).
Work Environment:
  • Typically low to moderate noise levels.
  • Exposure to various cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
